Responsibilities: The Assistant Principal for Operations establishes an effective learning climate. This position is responsible for the planning, organization, administration, and management of leading the school’s operations. The assistant principal implements school and district-wide visions, evaluates and improves systems, processes, and procedures, and maintains and manages school facilities. This position assists with supervising staff, creating a safe environment, and other duties associated with the successful operations of the school. The assistant principal supervises and coordinates the logistical activity in the building in support of educational programs, school health, safety, transportation, and other assigned activities.

Qualifications: Illinois Professional Educator License with Administrative Endorsement
Previous administration experience is preferred
Previous student services (dean) and operations experience is preferred
Calendar: Full-time 12-month employee
Shared responsibility for evening activities supervision

Job Responsibilities:
- SYSTEMS: Supervises and collaborates with the district, building, and department leadership in the overall evaluation, development, and supervision of student services programming, mental health and wellness services, health services, safety, and related services. Establishes and administers the school’s student discipline plan and the school’s plan for ensuring a safe and orderly environment. Assists with scheduling and facilitation of state and district testing.
- EQUITY: Models non-discriminatory practices in all activities. Ensures that the systemic support and intervention design of all programming, operations, practices, MTSS, athletic codes of conduct, and student services equitably implements the beliefs and commitments of the D128 Racial Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Policy.
- COORDINATES: The daily operation of the school’s attendance program, security functions, transportation, cafeteria program, custodial program, in-school suspension, and detention operations. Ensures that the school’s policies and procedures for student discipline referrals and discipline action plans meet state, federal, and division requirements. Assists with the planning and supervision of District 128 Summer School.
- CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT: Performs classroom observations and conferences with teachers to improve the instructional program. Collaborates with building administration and teachers on developing innovation in building operations and student services, social workers, nurses, and team leaders.
- SUPERVISES: Supervises and evaluates building staff, including but not limited to department chairs, team leaders, nurses, and campus safety. Supervise the Prevention and Wellness coordinator and efforts. Coordinates and supports discipline and communications with team leaders and Learning Support Teams as needed; coordinates and supports team leaders’ recommendations to the Board regarding the Disciplinary Policy; collaborates with team leaders, campus safety and law enforcement agencies on relevant matters, including the security operations for regular school days and special events. Organize safety inspections and safety drills.
- DATA: Directs compliance with and collects student data for local, state, and federal surveys and reports. Collaborate with Building and District personnel to collect, analyze, and share data to evaluate the effectiveness of the district's social and emotional (SEL) and behavioral intervention programs and plan for future programs.
- PROFESSIONAL LEARNING: Provides professional development for instructional staff and other assigned personnel regarding school security, classroom management, effective discipline strategies, and conferencing techniques. Develops and implements research-based professional learning for staff.
- BUDGET/RESOURCE MANAGEMENT: Oversees and develops the budget for Operations that aligns with the District Mission and Strategic Plan.
- COLLABORATION: Coordinates and collaborates with the building teams on the effectiveness of the Professional Learning Communities.
- STAFFING: Leads the Student Services staff hiring processes; responsible for developing, supervising, and evaluating Student Services certified/non-certified staff members.
- COMMUNITY: Collaborates with the Assistant Principal of Student Services. Seeks ways to develop and sustain a climate of mutual respect between and among the students and adults who participate in the school
